Performing Arts Experience

Front of House Staff - Head Usher

Hult Center for the Performing Arts

September 2021 - September 2024

As part of a large team, my duties included ticket taking, vaccination status verification, parking enforcement, assisting patrons and contributing to venue safety. When in the role of Head Usher I was the bridge between the stage manager/head carpenter and the front of house team. Coordinating entry times, special situations, and emergency scenarios.

Head Electrician / Stagehand Grip

I.A.T.S.E 675 & 28

October 2021 - August 2024

As a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees I assist touring shows and local performing arts groups at multiple union houses in the Eugene/Springfield area as well as the Portland Metro Area. As head electrician I was responsible for the safe operation of high voltage electricity, programming theatrical lighting systems, and delegating tasks to other stage hands.

Technical Director

Cottage Theater

February - July 2024

In my limited time at Cottage Theater I focused on upgrading the theatre's control and power distribution systems. I implemented an sACN network allowing the ETC lighting console to be moved into the house for lighting designers. Myself and the theatre's volunteers converted the flown electrics from dimmed power to constant power to support the ongoing LED conversion projects.

Interim Technical Director

Oregon State University

Spring Term 2024

I was hired in an interim capacity to supervise students in OSU’s scenic shop and oversee the production of Sunday In The Park With George in an offsite facility. We also overhauled the OSU portable sound system and introduced students to ETC modern lighting systems.

Technical Director (TD)

Richard E. Wildish Community Theater

September 2012 - February 2024

I started at the Wildish Theater (2012) as assistant TD to our founding TD, Skip Hubbard. Over the course of four years I learned the quirks and features of our facility and absorbed as much of Skip’s knowledge as possible. When Mr. Hubbard retired (2016) I was tapped as his successor.

As a “venue for hire” the Wildish Theater produced shows for five resident companies, annual events, and hundreds of one off shows. Most productions would load in the morning, rehearse and program their show throughout the day, and then do a performance in the evening. The theater would often host back to back events of different natures. It was my responsibility to accommodate all their needs with little to no turnover time.

Being a smaller venue my duties extended beyond those of the traditional TD. In addition to programming/operating lights, sounds, and projections for stage productions, I was responsible for maintenance of the facility including networking, electrical, and general upkeep. My duties also included scheduling production staff to work events and performing ongoing maintenance tasks and upgrades to the facility. I often served as the House Manager; managing ticketing, interacting with patrons, and addressing their concerns.

During my tenure I led efforts to upgrade the theater's lighting, projection, sound, and telecommunications systems. Researching the best solutions to fit our budget, writing funding  proposals, purchasing and installing equipment, then training others how to use it.

I also had the opportunity to work with middle and high school students providing hands-on experience with technical production equipment.

Production/Stage Manager

Ballet Fantastique

May 2021 - May 2023

During my time with Ballet Fantastique I stage managed shows at the Hult Center For The Performing Arts, and produced multiple tours. Additionally I managed the ballet warehouse, built/repaired sets, and designed special effects. Our tour stops were often at small or remote venues that needed troubleshooting when we arrived so we traveled with our own lighting, sound, and projection control systems.

Executive Board

Student Production Association (SPA) of Lane Community College

September 2014 - May 2016

During my time with SPA, I worked on several theatrical productions with a team of fellow students and faculty. My duties included program design/layout, properties management, ticket sales/management, stage management, theatrical equipment operation, budgeting, and team management. Productions of note include  Constance & Sinestra And The Cabinet of Screams, Angels In America: Millennium Approaches, and The Pillow Man.
